Biography

Alexandra Yangel is a dramatic soprano and former ensemble member of the Wiener Staatsoper. Her engagements have included Sonya in Dmitri Tcherniakov's production of Prokofiev's Krieg und Frieden (War and Peace) at the Bayerische Staatsoper under Vladimir Jurowski; Charlotte in Massenet's Werther at Theater Aachen; and Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. At Theater Erfurt she sang Marguerite in Berlioz's La damnation de Faust in 2023, returning in 2025 as Donna Elvira in Mozart's Don Giovanni.

Alexandra trained for fourteen years as a violinist in Moscow before making singing her profession. Her earlier career was principally in the mezzo-soprano repertoire; she now works in the dramatic soprano repertoire.

Alexandra is a German citizen. She currently lives in Berlin.
